It would seem that in Italy smart working, or as it is called by politics "agile working", has gone out of fashion.
We have exited the emergency phase and, since April, remote working has no longer been available, even for parents of children under 14 and fragile workers.
The only possibility left open is that of individual agreements between company and workers.
We remind you that, in the most acute phase of the pandemic, almost 40% of those employed worked remotely, while in 2019 in Italy they were only 4%. So will this clear orientation aimed at promoting a return to the office be a good thing or a bad thing?
Opinions are discordant, as they were during the Pandemic, between those who, for various reasons, prefer to work from home and those who believe that the office environment is necessary to create teams that work and are as productive as possible .
The impression remains strong that we have missed an opportunity to understand how to best use this opportunity for flexibility.
The perception that the "danger has passed" and the belief that everything will return to how it was before the pandemic seems to prevail in many companies.
In reality, the reasons behind the success of smart-working are all still there and, sooner than we imagine, they will recur in the world of work, without the main players having developed a strategy to manage this phenomenon.
