A necessity now. An ever more pressing urgency. Sustainability is no longer just synonymous with respect for the environment. Over the last few years, this concept has increasingly broadened to include people's well-being, the improvement of the quality of work, the balance between professional life and private life and the reduction of inequalities, whether gender, economic or generational.
The world of work has changed profoundly in the last two years, but we must not think that it is just about smart working or remote working. It is a much broader and deeper change that concerns organizations and people, and the values that inspire them. We are moving towards what we could define as the search for social sustainability, which is much more difficult to measure because it is not based on objective values (such as the reduction of emissions or energy saving), but which in reality has an impact also significant at an economic and business level.
In 2023, we expect a greater ability of companies to understand and support the objectives - personal and family - of their collaborators and an ever stronger connection with the external environment, to try to reconcile business and social responsibility objectives. In general, we could say that personal success (the real and lasting one) also passes through the ability to put together one's needs, those of family and friends and through any voluntary work and "contribution to society" to try to respond appropriately to the stimuli that come from each dimension.
To prevent companies and people from traveling in different directions, it becomes increasingly important for managers to draw up proposals (for candidates, but also for resources already on board) that leverage sustainability, understood as the possibility of permanently reconciling your personal expectations with your business needs. Only when the values and expectations of the individual coincide with those of the company will everyone work together to achieve a single great result: achieving business objectives and, together, ensuring that people achieve their personal goals.
